We have uploaded the new outdoor footage, the walking shots using the dolly have come out quite shakey but some bits can be used. the rest of the footage came out well. some of us have decided to make use of the late editing sessions.

Last lot of Filming

Sabil was caught up in traffic but when he arrived we finally managed to get the last of our fottage filmed :) we worked on the second verse and the outro.

Using the dolly (the Wheely thing for the camera) we filmed more bits for the second verse, sabil was walking along singing whilst I filmed with the dolly walking alongside him , we did the same part in three different shots, face-on, sideways and behind shots which all worked reasonably well , it was pretty shakey as the surface we were on was all bumpy however I did my best to keep the camera as still as possible.

After filming the second verse we moved location and worked on the outro of the video, we used some of the surrounding objects and incorporated them into our settining, once again we filmed the outro three times each time from a different position to get a range of shots showing the same thing, doing this will allow us to mix and match different parts from each three positions when we uload it to get a wider variety of angles and shots. one of the sets of shots i liked most werte the one of sabil walking towards the camera and also the shot of the outro when i was lying on the floor and filming it , i had a pretty steady hand and the angling of it looks very good

More Shots Needed

Having uploaded all our current shots we cansee we dont have enough footage for the second verse so in tommorrows lesson we will pick up a camera and go and get the shots we need, it will only take this lesson then we can spend the next lessons solely on editing, although we are beginning to run low on time if we get our act together we will be able to get it all done.

The Crew

Here is just a little bit about the group and will show what each of us has contributed to the group:

Rhys:
Rhys has contributed creatly to the group his knowledge of Final Cut has proven to be great help when editing and using the effects on our shots with the macs, he also helped out when filming in the green room and has been good at thinking of ideas and inspiration for the video. hes been giving good ideas and suggestions which have been included within our video and have been successful.

Jack:
Jack has been providing the group with a constant flow of ideas and things we could do to make our video as best we can , he also plays the guitar in the music video, although he is not actually playing the notes we managed to sync it in pretty well, Jack helped with the filming aswell and has been Writing up quite a bit on our blogs. Jack is also pretty handy with the macs too and has been helping edit our video and create the effects on Final Cut.

Sabil:
Sabil is our main man in the video, he does the lip singing and he works it well and manages to give off the right feel to the video, he is full of great ideas and is always giving good input to the group, he has spent the time to learn the lyrics of the song and has put the effort in and is keen to see the final results.Sabil is full of ideas to encorporate in our video and has given many suggestions when editing which has made our work look better

William:
Will has been doing a bit of everything really , writing up things on the group blog, a bit of filming and has been useful when editing on the macs, Although he was ill for a few lessons he has managed to make up for lost time and has provided good input and ideas to the groups editing and is working hard to get it finished.

The Above is a bit brief , too be fair our group pretty much did everything and took it in turns to do the filming, the blogging and the editing so we all worked well together and we have been doing well so far , lets just hope wecan get it done in time.

Note: Most of the blog entries were thought up as a group and we selected a group member each lesson to write them up , after each post the Writer has been tagged with their initials e.g ...WC...

Rough Cut

Our Rough cut is very rough and has hardly been edited , there is a lot of work to be done, using the feedback from the other groups we can see that people are liking our work so far but it needs to be edited and sorted out, once we have uploaded all of our shots we can begin to finalise the cuts and effects and we should be able to produce a music video to a reasonably good standard.

Lets Get Cracking Team.

Ideas/Things to note from other groups rough cut

From reviewing other groups rough cuts in our class we have got some ideas on what could possibly look good if we choose to include it, and also some features to be careful with and/or avoid.

The order of shots is important and we can see from other groups that we need to get it right. Variety of shots and avoid it being too repetitive. Also holding shots for the right amount of time in comparison to the pace of the song is important.
Split screens in shots was used well and we could possibly include this at any points that seem appropriate.
Lens effect looked effective for some types of shot and can make it more interesting as well as more varied.
Definately need to make the syncing top quality throughout

RouhCut/Roughcut feedback

We got feedback on our rough cut from our class.

Camera work:

the class thought the camera work was generally very good and were very impressed with the side shot which was a close up of the performer at around 35 seconds. The angles we used also impressed our class.

Editing:

The class all agreed that we kept a good pace throughout which went well with the track and we really set the mood that the lyrics portray. Our cuts were clean and looked professional.

Effects:

Everyone liked the usage of the greenroom for our effects but some thought that we should do more of it and some disagreed and believed it would be better with less. Our lighting effects were good which lit up the performers face and showed more detail.

Mise En Scene :

Guitar a good touch giving it an authentic feel.Need to use more locations. greenroom gives many opportunity's for creativity.

Performance/Genre:

The mood is set perfectly to go with the song and pace. The lip sync and guitar are correctly in sync however it shows the performer doesn't perfectly now all the lyrics . It goes well with the genre and tempo of the track

Test Shots...

here is our test shot video including our practice lip syncing.
We also have learnt we will need to have some sort of lights in the room in order to make the green background stand out. when we did our practise session the room was too dark so we couldnt effectively green screen on the macs.
